Appearance: Kiburi is a lean and lanky lioness, her legs are a bit longer than some might be used to but her long frame makes up for that. She's got soft features and a kind face, most usually you can find a smile on her muzzle, quirky by most standards as she's usually humming a tune to herself. She's vibrant and her body seems like it was made as such, her top coat is a bright orange while her underbelly is a rich creamy beige, her eye shades also share this beige color. Her inner ears are a rich chocolate as well as the pads of her feet, though you're more likely to see them stained whatever colors she was using to paint her recent flight of fancy. She see's the world through emerald green eyes heavily lashed, that are usually aglow with some kind of spark, as though she knows more than she's ever saying. A coal black nose and tail tip complete her eccentric look but she doesn't mind, she enjoys colors and being a myriad of them only makes her happy.

Personality:
Kiburi is a vibrant soul, filled with the love for life and everything in it. She's cheerful and optimistic to a fault, though sometimes can border on naive when it comes to trusting those she meets right away if it is only herself being put into jeopardy. She enjoys painting more than anything in the world and if you catch her on a chatty day, which is most days, she'll most likely bore you with a good chat about what berries are best for what colors and what her recent paintings were and where. She does enjoy a good story as well, she shares many of Kuruku's stories as well as some of her own with great delight and it doesn't take much coaxing to get her talking.

She is by no means shy when it comes to others and isn't afraid to introduce herself and make a new friend, even a grumpy one. She has a tendency to think she can cure grumpiness and so quiet lions can sometimes find themselves exasperated by her overall cheeriness. She's respectful when it comes to her elders and royalty, her curiosity however can sometimes get her in trouble, as a cub she rarely wandered but if there is promise of something to paint, paint on, or paint with you can bet she'll be going to see it regardless of getting herself in hot water later on. She's not at all good liar either so it's likely if confronted you'll get the truth either from her eyes or her expression if she tried to lie though she doesn't bother more often than not.

Add a little endearing clumsiness and a dash of daring and you've got an overall perky lioness who simply wants to live life to the fullest. Annoying or refreshing, you decide.

History:
Kiburi has been blessed with an enjoyable existence, she was born one of two cubs to a pair of Deserlanders. A vibrant soul even as a child she often when exploring, dragging her meeker brother along for the ride, even though she was quite the explorer she always made sure to keep herself within the Desert like she knew she should and return home before her parents worried. However one night she would go off on her own and become lost in a field of cacti, the youngster was barely becoming a teen by this time and although larger was still frightened enough to weep. She didn't know when she'd stop but a light tickle of wings near her back and a second later she was staring down at the form of an owl. It's eyes were large and yellow, albeit milky, and he introduced himself as Kuruku startling the youngster enough to quiet her tears and bring out her more curious nature.

Kuruku explained to her that he had recently been blinded and had been stuck in the cactus she had been weeping beneath. After he related his entire sad tale to the lioness he asked her a favor, if he were to show her home, that she be his eyes until the time that the Great Spirits were to take him. She readily agreed and from memory the owl related to her how to get home, perching upon her back the whole time with an unblinking gaze outwards. With his help Kiburi did indeed make it home and true to her word she explained to her family who he was and their agreement, her parents being the lions that they were accepted the owl into their family readily and Kiburi became his eyes. During their time together Kiburi would learn the beauties of each place she saw like nobody could, Kuruku's predicament making things seem much more vibrant and clear to her. It was this that would draw her to painting.

Kuruku often explained wondrous places to her but something in her felt the need to show them and eventually she found her needed materials and began to paint these things. The desert of course didn't have all the things she needed and with a promise to her family to return the lioness set out for the place she knew that would, the Lowlands. She had heard that the Queen's there were accepting of lionesses and she hoped that if she explained to them why she wished to live there they would consent. She was luckily accepted into their ranks by the gracious Queens and began her real passion, painting. Whatever Kuruku explained to her, she painted and before long both rocks and trees could be found with beautiful pictures of places not seen by the lions before.

Even when he wasn't helping her paint the old owl passed knowledge and stories onto the lioness, their time together was rich and when he finally passed she painted a picture on the tree overlooking his grave. It showed him in his prime, soaring high above the Savannah with clear eyes and a proud look on his face like she had so imagined he was before being blinded. She resolved that she would continue her work in his honor and paint each place he had ever told her about, little by little, sharing his stories with the cubs whenever they wished to hear them. She lives a contented life among the Lowlanders, but does miss her family now and again, though she has been able to see them a few times since her departure. With tensions high however she's been seeing less and less of them and isn't sure what has been happening in their lives as of late.
