Kiasi bounced his way through the Lowland foliage with a crowing chuckle, tossing a look over his shoulder at his trailing sibling. "I told you this would cool! Didn't I Kosa?" he called out with a laugh and scaled a log, perching at the top before sitting down promptly and looking down at his brother with a big grin. Kiasi had not yet learned the error of his ways when it came to trespassing but he soon would when he ventured to the Coldlands, for now though he was blissfully ignorant.

This time he'd managed to drag his violet eyed sibling along for the ride, their adventure had been long, taking them along the borders of the Desertlands and the Savannah that their father had warned them about. Kiasi hadn't dared venture through the Pridelands after his meeting with Heshima, she had promised him nothing but death if he did again and so he'd decided he didn't want to see that wasteland again.

He stood again and ripped his claws through the bark to sharpen them and also to feel the squishy moss against his pads again. He'd been amused by the different feeling the ground had in the Lowlands and was even more surprised when the bark ripped up from his small claws and revealed a plethora of colorful bugs that immediately jumped into the air and took wing. He jumped up snapping at a large beetle and caught it in his mouth, though he didn't squish it and quickly made a disgusted face before spitting it out. The affronted insect shook itself clean of slobber before buzzing into the air again, bumping the cubs nose sharply before fluttering off.

Makosa wasn't sure why he'd let his brother convince him to tag along with him on one of his rendezvous, but he was having fun. Even so, his better judgement told him that he was being stupid and that they should go home. Since when did a boy listen to his better judgement though? He let a grin gross his muzzle as he bound after his brother and leapt across the air, tumbling along next to Kiasi and sitting up straight after his tumble. He looked up and saw that Kiasi was on a log, rather than the ground next to him. He shook his head and bounded up after him, a playful grin on his face. "You told me, Kiasi," he chuckled at his brother. He lightly jumped down and rolled onto his back, batting paws at the air.

Makosa hadn't ventured very far before, preferring to stay where the others could see him. But today, the devillish brother of his had managed to persuade him. Makosa had always wanted to go out and explore however, so it hadn't taken Kiasi tat much to convince him. He rolled back onto his paws and trotted a little further ahead towards one of the jungle's trees. Where they were right now was interesting definitely, and he had decided that he liked the new place.

He looked up as Kiasi's claws ripped through the bark of the log. He jumped and then looked over at his brother, an idea forming in his head. He could smell water in the air, and this place seemed perfect for them to take a break and play around a bit. "Hey, Kiasi, we should play here for a while!" He grinned and growled. He bent down and wiggled his but in the air, tail lying low, and jumped up on the log. He ignored the insect and leapt at Kiasi, paws flailing in the air as he aimed for his brother. If his pounce worked, his paws would hit Kiasi and they would go tumbling backwards. If not, he'd probably just collide with Kiasi and they'd fall off the log. The result would be the same.

Kiasi was happy to see Kosa having fun, the other cub was out of his element but he didn't seem scared by it and was tumbling around. He'd almost tumbled into Kiasi before he'd leapt up onto the log to have his fun with the bark and the bugs that resided there. When his brother proposed they stay there to play he nodded, they didn't really need to venture too much farther and this place looked like a lot of fun for both of them. There were plenty of things to climb on and plenty more things they could roll about in if the urge to wrestle struck them, it looked a lot more comfortable than hard ground.

Kosa had hopped onto the log with him and at his brothers grown Kiasi growled back his tail swishing. His brother jumped towards him, his paws flailing and had Kiasi not been concentrating on staying balanced on his log he probably would have laughed. Kiasi tumbled backwards when Kosa's paws collided with him and he wrapped his own forelegs around his brother and balanced them on the log playfully biting Kosa's shoulder and ears. He rolled them sideways before letting go when he unbalanced himself and flopped into a pile of leaves with a soft oomph.

He crouched low in the pile and waited for Kosa to try to peer towards him, if at all, if he did Kiasi would spring up and attempt to pull Kosa into the pile with a playful chuckle. "Gotcha!" he'd call out but who knew if he'd miss or not.

Sweet Mistakes Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sweet Mistakes   Sweet Mistakes EmptyThu Jun 28, 2012 7:03 pm

Makosa really wasn't the adventurous type, which was why this was very foreign to him and he was battling inside himself. But the new world outside was far too exciting, and he couldn't help but be a bundle of energy and excitement. It wasn't long before all of his previous reluctance had abandoned him and he was excited. Kiasi was better at controlling his excitement at all the new stuff than Makosa, and Makosa reasoned that this was because his brother often vanished for the day and came back with stories to tell of his adventures that day. Makosa often envied his brother, but he knew that this was un-becoming in a lion. He should be grateful for everything that he had, but this place? This place was like heaven. He couldn't believe what he was seeing before them.

The smells that had arisen to his nose delighted him, fresh and new. The jungle, it was a completely new and different smell, far better than he'd ever smelt before. The Shadowlands weren't as interesting as this place, and all the smells were old news. He could smell other lions, too, identified by that familiar smell that accompanied each lion, separating him from another species. However, the unique scent that also accompanied each was one he'd never smelt before - as he would expect.

Makosa blinked and whipped around, looking for his brother. He then heard a slight rustle and pretended not to as he continued to look around in confusion. He very subtley prepared himself to pounce, and within the blink of an eye he'd whipped around and pounced towards his brother.

Giza was now over two years old and growing like a weed. She had been one of the smallest of her litter, but in the Lowlands she was growing to be healthy and much stronger than she ever imagined. Part of the reason she was in such great shape was because Giza often spent hours a day patrolling near the borders, or just wandering around the jungle. Climbing hills created well toned muscles, and Giza was proud to be bigger and better than her former self. Her thoughts were still dark on occasion, but overall, she was hardly the same bitter, angry lioness she had once been.

The sound of movement caught Giza's attention first, and she instinctively steered herself in the direction of the noise. She was surprised to discover two male cubs playing not far away, apparently unaware and unconcerned that they were indeed trespassing on Lowlander territory. They were rather filthy from play, but otherwise they looked well cared for, and Giza couldn't imagine they were orphans. But where had they come from? The young lioness decided she was going to find out. First, she cleared her throat to alert the pair of her presence, so they wouldn't be alarmed. Then she emerged from the brush.

She wasn't shy at all as she walked over to the younger lions, offering a quizical expression. "Are you lost?" Her tone was friendly enough, but there was a look in her pale blue eyes that suggested she didn't entirely trust the strangers, even if they were young. Never would she have guessed that the two lions were in fact related to her, long lost half brothers that she didn't know existed at all. For all she knew, they were the sons of a rogue who sent his cubs in to spy on the jungle pride. However, she wasn't about to call for the queens to come and take care of the situation. Giza felt she could handle this one herself.

Kiasi would never get the chance to pounce on Kosa as he hadn't been as quiet as he thought he had, his rustling had alerted the other cub and before he knew it he himself was pounced instead. He rolled again in the leaves and grabbed Kosa's ear in his mouth, gently enough not to hurt him but firmly enough to tug with one eye closed and the other open a small playful grown coming from his throat that was anything but intimidating.

He was in a fit of giggling when he heard a throat clear and he immediately dropped his brother's ear from his mouth and scrambled to his paws on alert. He spotted the lioness quick enough, her coat was the brightest shade of russet he'd ever seen and her eyes were equally bright though blue in color. Her question made the cub move in front of his brother and lift his head quickly a rebellious look on his face before he felt himself going sheepish, "Not exactly...we were just playing and this place looked so nice. We didn't mean to trespass, it's not his fault" he hastily added indicating Kosa.

If anyone was taking the fall for trespassing it would be him and not his brother, he was the one who had convinced him to come along even if Kosa hadn't really been resistant to the idea. He tried smiling charmingly at the older lioness, never guessing she was of the same blood on their mothers side though something made him want to be nicer to her. Maybe it was her eyes, they were a gentle blue and her tone had been friendly enough even if she did look slightly suspicious. "I'm Kiasi, who are you?" he asked quickly to try and divert her attention, and to be polite of course.

Sweet Mistakes Empty

Makosa grinned as he found that his pounce was successful. His brother was normally brilliant at hiding, and at the slightest twitch he would attack Makosa and swiftly win the fight due to his advantage. However, Makosa had the advantage of surprise on his side this time as his paws collided with Kiasi and he pushed him back by the chest, wrapping arms around him as they tumbled over once. He let out a laughing growl as they stopped rolling.

Before he'd realised it, Kiasi had gently taken his ear in his mouth and he let out a playful-yowl. He laughed again and grabbed Kiasi's own ear and tugged lightly. "Kiassiiii!" He protested as he tried to pry his ear free, before suddenly his ear was let go and he tumbled off of Kiasi due to the lack of warning. His back had been facing the young lioness and so he failed to see her until he tumbled over and looked up. Her bright, russet coat made him blink in surprise as he looked at her. Kiasi answered before Makosa could get anything out, but he felt he should back up his brother. He stood up and stared at her curiously. "Yeah, we didn't meant to trespass! And it's not his fault either, we just wanted to explore is all." He chimed in.

Makosa definitely didn't want Kiasi taking all the blame for them wandering here, so he quickly confirmed that it wasn't Kiasi's fault either. They genuinely were just exploring the world around them, something that he'd hope the russet lioness would forgive them for. He began to wander who she was, and presumed she was just a member of the pride. She looked to young to hold any rank such as Queen or warrior. "I'm Makosa." He added. In the back of his mind he desperately hoped that they wouldn't get in to much trouble for running off, and perhaps this lioness would let them off just this once.

Sweet Mistakes Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sweet Mistakes   Sweet Mistakes EmptyWed Jul 04, 2012 3:00 am

The protective reaction of Kiasi was a curious thing. By now, Giza had witnessed what real sibling love should be like. She had never been particularly kind to any of her siblings, and only Ari had ever been unconditionally nice to the others. She couldn't help but smile when Kiasi jumped in front of Makosa. She inspected them closer. Their black manes reminded her of her own father, but nothing about their features was Scar. They didn't look like him, beside their dark locks. She stared inadvertently at Makosa. His eyes were like her own mother's, but with a strange white unlike the rest of her family. Giza had never met Kuzimu and so she couldn't put two and two together by the look of these cubs. There was nothing about them that screamed Heshima, unlike Giza's own sisters. They simply looked like two dirty lost cubs looking for adventure.

"I'm Giza. This is the Lowlands." She assumed they didn't know that. That they had simply wandered there, and the lush vegetation and the promise of water had lured them closer to the border and into unfamiliar territory. And really, she coudn't blame them. When she had gotten lost so many months ago, left to her own devices on the savannah, she had been drawn to the jungle because it was nothing like her own home. It was alive, tempting and beautiful. She had truly grown to love her jungle home.

"Where did you travel from? Don't worry, I don't think you're here to try to steal away the throne or anything. I think you're okay." A playful wink was offered, and she sat. She was older than the brothers and clearly didn't see them as a threat. Had their parents warned them that it wasn't safe to wander into unknown kingdoms? She would have to try to give them a lecture before she sent them on their way. It wasn't safe to be out there, surely the boys knew that.

Nyima was a hunter. She was big, powerful, strong, focused. She held wisdom in her eyes like her mother, Duara, and she had the focus and concentration of her other mother, Nyota. She was trained by the pride warrior, Umiza, to be powerful. Her eyes were narrowed in concentration as her paws lightly touched the earth, barely making a sound as she slipped through the bushes. No rustle was given off due to her skilful moving as she followed, ever watchful. So far, her prey had given off no sign that it knew of her presence as it moved about absently. She shifted her weight from shoulder to shoulder and lowered herself so that her belly brushed against the surface of the earth. Her claws lightly scratched against the dirt as her tail laid low behind her. She focused hard, ready to move. She used the force of her strong back legs, she pushed off the ground and gave herself extra speed by using the strength of her front legs too, scratching against the earth. She swept her forelegs back out in front of her, a triumphant growl ripping up her throat as she collided with her prey, paws closing around the small animal and holding it in her grasp.

Nyima let out a giggle as she captured the butterfly and was pulled back into reality. She was not a strong, powerful, tall and breath-taking lioness as she had pictured, nor did she have the wisdom of her mother's. She had not been trained by Umiza, and her legs certainly had no power in them. In fact, she'd just gone flailing through the air and only by some amazing luck had she managed to capture the butterfly off the rock. She now rolled and stood up, lifting one paw and releasing the butterfly to fly off into the air. She chased after it, growling and giggling as she swiped her paws at it. "Come back here, that's not fair! I can't fly!" She laughed and leapt up into the air, using what little strength she had. She flailed wildly at the butterfly who easily avoided her and fluttered higher, before drifting over to a bed of flowers and enjoying the sunshine there. Nyima decided to leave the little, winged creature alone and she looked around the jungle. She breathed in the lovely scents and couldn't imagine living anywhere else in the world.

Nyima turned and continued on her way, away from the butterfly. She knew the jungles were vast, but where she travelled she always felt safe. If ever she was scared, she only had to call out as loud as she could and soon one of her mother's would be at her aid, she hoped. If not, she would use the sun to guide her back to their place of sleeping. She'd realised that where the sun set was the general direction she needed to walk in. It wouldn't be long before she stumbled across someone in her pride. Her only problem was that mummy and mama would be furious with her if she stayed out that long. She continued to bound along, pouncing on rocks and growling at imaginary animals. She pictured herself as a strong and beautiful lioness, before she'd slip over and realise she wasn't that. She hoped one day she would be that. She hoped she could be like her mother's, beautiful and wise. She smiled and heard the familiar sound of Giza. She bound towards the voice, and heard a male's accompany it - though it sounded young. Wait, two male voices? She blinked and increased her pace, flying out and tumbling over. She collided with the back of the russet teen and blinked, standing back up. "Hi Giza!" She greeted her enthusiastically and looked at the boys, a huge smile on her muzzle.

Kiasi shot his brother a look when he tried to take some of the blame, anyone around would have thought it sweet and Kiasi did appreciate it but he didn't want Makosa to have an ounce of blame. He looked back to the russet female and gave her what he hoped was a beseeching smile, when she introduced herself she also told them where they had wandered and Kiasi felt slight disappointment. He should have known that something so beautiful and cool would already be claimed and his expression showed it before he managed to control it to a slightly apologetic look.

"We didn't know, it's nice to meet you, your home is really...nice" he didn't want to say pretty, pretty was a girly word and he was supposed to be tough. He lifted his head slightly when she asked where they were from, ready to proudly tell her they were from the Shadowlands but she winked at him and he felt himself falter and look discreetly away to hide the fluster before piping up. "We...we're from the Shadowlands" he said and cleared his young throat before looking back over at the russet creature. He hoped Makosa hadn't noticed his falter, it wasn't like he thought Giza was pretty or anything, girls were gross and she was much older than him anyways.

Kiasi opened his mouth to ask her what she was planning on doing with them but before he could a sudden noise made him back up a few steps and tense. A small bundle of fur had flown from the greenery behind Giza and collided with her before it straightened itself out and greeted Giza enthusiastically. Now they hadn't been discovered by just one lioness but two and Kiasi straightened himself up to hide his moment of weakness, it was just a girl. He planted his rear firmly on the ground as well and peered over at the two cocking his head to the side and raising a brow at the boisterous female cub that had arrived. He hadn't thought they were THAT close to a pride but maybe he'd been wrong, his nose had maybe failed him in that regard.
