Appearance: Kavu has a golden coat, much like his father’s, with a strangely white underbelly that matches his toes, muzzle, and ears, inherited from his mother. He sports orange eyes and a pink nose, with a light brown tuft on his head and elbows, speaking of a thick, wild mane to come as he grows. His fur is already a tad wilder than some, with his golden coat stretching out his cheeks in little tufts. Besides his mother’s white coloring, he looks very much like his father. He’s of average size, and while is larger than his sister and brother now, his brother will surpass him in build once they grow up.

Personality: Living in the Outlands, all must be tough and prepared for their harsh life, including cubs. Kavu stepped up to the plate of life, and has been growing strong despite the pride’s situation. The more outgoing and adventurous of his littermates, Kavu is a bundle of energy and curiosity, sometimes getting into trouble if he pries too far, but Tao is usually around to talk him out of anything too insensible. He is fiercely protective of his siblings and others close to him and enjoys play-fighting, but otherwise doesn’t approve of serious violence. He takes much after his father, being stubborn and rarely willing to admit he’s wrong unless very obviously proved so, and is rather headstrong, which could get him into trouble. He thinks he can do anything, even when proven wrong.

Still, Kavu is an optimist, ready and willing to cheer anyone up (especially his brother Kudumu). Despite his playful, and sometimes trouble making traits, he is a sweet cub and will grow to be kind and respectful. He looks up to his father and wants to be just like him, striving to make him proud, just like his siblings, though he tends to get distracted easily.

History:
Kavu’s parents knew each other when they were young, Kiume a recent outcast of the Pridelands, and Ilani an adopted Desertlander. They became instant friends, and while life would force them apart, their friendship remained strong and the two eventually found each other again. Their friendship soon grew into something more and Ilani planned to stay in the Outlands with her love, both wanting to start a family. But as fate would have it, life would force them apart once more, this time for good.

Kavu’s entrance into life was a sorrowful one, his mother dying soon after his birth. He was born between Tao and Kudumu, but has yet to have reason to have “middle child syndrome.” Never having known his mother, only the lioness who nursed them in her place, Kavu has moments of depression as he considers his lack of a proper mother, not understanding the situation or why anyone deserved it. He tries not to think about it too much, as it only breeds discontent in his heart, but secretly would like to see his mother’s spirit, as he heard is sometimes possible, but isn’t sure how to go about it. Sometimes he wonders if the stories of his mother are true, if she really existed at all, for all he can remember of her is a soft, weak voice, and even that seems more like a dream than anything. He’s only ever known the love from his father, as the lionesses of the pride, even though standing in as his surrogate mother(s), keep themselves separate from the cubs in memory of Ilani, no one wanting to fully take her place. Kavu will sometimes claim he doesn’t need a mother regardless, but truly he wishes desperately for one.

Kavu spends his time trying to be a good son, but tends to get bored of Princely lessons quickly and zones out to dream or gets distracted by bugs or lizards.
