Appearance: Upendo is a slightly larger than average cub (giving him a strong build) with a light russet pelt. Although a few shades darker than his father, he still bears a striking resemblance to the male. His right eye is a firey crimson, inherited by great great grandfather whilst his left is a soothing violet from his mother. The cub sports the same color tail tuft as his mother and it has manifest itself onto his head as his growing mane. His nose is the same shape as his fathers, and depending on the lighting, could be a dark brown or black. Upendo's claws are never unsheeted, for he believes that violence is only acceptable when protecting family and hunting.

Personality: If one wanted ther ideal cub, Upendo would be their first choice. The small lion is a sweetheart and always puts his siblings and mother before himself. He cares about everything and almost everyone and will be there to help sooth them of their tears. The cub loves to run around and he acts his age, but with a slight amount of maturity not normally seen in cubs at or even near his age. When faced with the royal family, he always uses their given titles unless told not to, and he always shows the upmost respect. For after all, they are the ones who keep him safe.

Upendo only experiances hatred for one person, his father. He believes Shinikizo abandoned him and his sisters and took the two strongest cubs for his liking. Whenever he comes to visit him and his sisters, Upendo will always stay away from him, only giving him a slight nod to show his knowledge of his presence before running off with one of his brothers in tow. But like his name suggests, Upendo will love only one lioness, and that female has to be perfect. Even as innocent as he is, the cub won't be manipulated in the future by any suductress females that wander into the Lowlands.

Family: Son of Shinikizo and Shani; Brother of Sakina, Ziko, Jabari and Malaika

History: Upendo was born in the Coldlands to Shinikizo and Shani, one being a new adult and the other still being an adolescent. To his father's suprise, Upendo was one of not two, not three, but five healthy cubs to be born to the chocolate brown female. The male was overjoyed, his plan for the future was secured with the litter! But, safety was not on the new family's side. A threat of the king was upon them, and Shinikizo sent the mother back to her homelands with Upendo and his two sisters in tow, keeping the two other males behind.

Once returning to the Lowlands with her cubs, Shani was quickly chastised. But she was allowed to keep her cubs and a place in the pride. Upendo grew quickly, learning the ways of the Lowlanders and respecting all who come and go. Although he is adventurous, he always stays hidden in the shadows of the trees and close to where an adult could hear him if trouble arose. The young cub is oblivious to what is happening in the neighboring kingdoms, but stays completly aware to what is going on in his home pride.
